Colin Powrie Presents at the Royal Norwegian Embassy

Norwegian Embassy | London, UK - Colin Powrie spoke about key factors when looking to invest in AI start-ups at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London.

Colin Powrie, who covers the mobility sector for Ascend Capital Partners, highlighted several key aspects to be considered when investing in artificial intelligence companies to an audience of start-ups, VCs and government officials.

Colin stressed that strong technology was not the only success factor for an AI company, that an open-minded and experienced management team, and a defined and scalable business model were just as important.

Colin highlighted the growing trend of AI and connectivity in the automotive industry, particularly the soaring demand for this from consumers in China compared to anywhere else in the world. This led into a discussion about how Ascend differentiates itself from other VC investors, where Ascend’s close support of its investments has included opening up the fast-growing China market to its portfolio companies.

In attendance were representatives of Amazon, Nvidia, Redline Capital, the BGF and numerous distinguished Norwegian and UK-based high-tech start-ups making up an engaged audience.
